Tri-C Baseball Players Earn All-Conference Honors
Four student-athletes on College team recognized by OCCAC
Four Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C®) baseball players earned all-conference honors from the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference for their performance during the 2015 season.
The following Tri-C student-athletes were recognized:
- Left-handed pitcher Connor Ryan, who posted a 6-3 record with 45 strikeouts and a 3.19 ERA. The second-year player from Strongsville threw three complete games in his 10 starts.
- Right fielder Ben Szymczak, who batted .335 with five home runs and 31 RBI while batting leadoff. The second-year player from Strongsville also added 22 stolen bases and scored 63 runs.
- Third baseman Eric Roder, who batted .335 with two home runs and 47 RBI. The second-year player from Lakewood also scored 37 runs.
- Catcher Gabriel Vargas, who batted .326 with two home runs and 23 RBI. The first-year player from Venezuela also scored 20 runs.
The Challengers ended the season with a record of 36-20 — an improvement of 24 wins from the previous season. The team finished second in the conference and made several appearances in national polls.
