Northeast Ohio Musicians Needed to Perform at Tri-C JazzFest Cleveland
Summer festival issues call for bands to apply for outdoor stage slots
Tri-C JazzFest Cleveland, presented by KeyBank, has opened an online application for local bands that want to play the festival’s outdoor Strassman Insurance Stage June 23-24 at Playhouse Square.
Applications will be accepted through Friday, April 7. An online form accessible from the site asks for video links of performances and background information on bands.
A committee of music industry experts will review the submissions and select which acts ultimately take the outdoor stage between 3 p.m. and midnight on Friday and Saturday of festival weekend. A variety of genres will be considered, including jazz, blues, R&B, funk, gospel, jam band and reggae.
Last year, the committee considered more than 100 applications for 18 performance slots.
“The competition is fierce,” said Terri Pontremoli, festival director. “Tri-C JazzFest is an excellent showcase for regional musicians and an opportunity for our audience to experience the musical talent in Northeast Ohio.”
The 38th annual Tri-C JazzFest runs June 22-24. The festival includes eight ticketed concerts inside the historic theaters at Playhouse Square, plus the free outdoor shows.
Visit the JazzFest webpage for a schedule of ticketed shows. The 2017 lineup includes Boz Scaggs, Chris Botti, Dianne Reeves, Terence Blanchard, Anat Cohen, Norman Brown and many others.
Festival passes – which offer VIP seating to all eight ticketed concerts, plus other perks – are now on sale. Cost is $250, a $165 savings compared to buying single tickets to all eight shows. Call 216-640-8800 to purchase.
Individual tickets will go on sale March 20 through the Playhouse Square Box Office at 216-241-6000.
Tri-C JazzFest Cleveland is presented by KeyBank and made possible by Cuyahoga Community College, the National Endowment for the Arts, Ohio Arts Council, Strassman Insurance Services Inc. and a growing list of donors and members.
