Amber Ruiz-Bueno Runs Down Tri-C Track Record
Student-athlete sets new indoor mark in the 800-meter run at regional championships
Amber Ruiz-Bueno claimed another Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C®) indoor track and field record while winning the 800-meter run at the Region XII Indoor Championships.
The sophomore from Willowick clocked a time of 2:19.42 in the 800-meter championship race, trimming almost a full second off the previous Tri-C record of 2:20.32.
Earlier this season, she set the school indoor record in the 600-meter run.
Ruiz-Bueno will compete in the 600-meter and 1,000-meter runs at the upcoming 2017 NJCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships. She will also be part of Tri-C’s distance medley and 4x400 relay teams at nationals.
She is pursuing an Associate of Arts degree from Tri-C while studying early childhood education. In January, Ruiz-Bueno earned All-Academic recognition from the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference for her success in the classroom during fall semester.
