Free program on March 22 at Western Campus is part of national speaking tour
Award-winning activist and educator Robyn Ochs will lead a conversation exploring sexual orientation and identity during a March program at the Western Campus of Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C®).
The free program featuring Ochs will take place 12:30-1:45 p.m. Wednesday, March 22, in the Western Campus Theatre. The stop is part of her national speaking schedule advocating for people of all orientations and genders to live safely, openly and with full access and opportunity.
Her work focuses on increasing awareness and understanding of complex identities. She also seeks to mobilize people to be powerful allies for one another within and across identities and social movements.
Ochs is editor of the Bi Women Quarterly and anthologies such as Getting Bi: Voices of Bisexuals Around the World. Her work has appeared in numerous bi, women’s studies, multicultural and LGBTQ publications.
Ochs has also taught courses in gender and sexuality studies at several colleges.
The session at Tri-C will explore the landscape of sexuality in addition to how people assign labels to groups. The interactive workshop will include an anonymous survey of the audience to gauge perceptions.
