Triceratops Run Into National XC Rankings
Cross country team looks to qualify for the NJCAA Championships for 19th consecutive season
The women’s cross country team at Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C®) has moved toward the front of the pack in the national rankings.
The Triceratops sit 17th in the latest NJCAA Division I poll by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. The team opened the year by winning the Buffalo State Daniel Walker Invitational and has yet to slow down.
The performances continue a proud tradition that has seen Tri-C advance to the NJCAA Championships for the past 18 seasons.
The team has been led by sophomores Hope Brown of Middleburg Heights and Hannah Heath of Sullivan. Freshman Claudia Mendek of North Royalton has been the top runner in an impressive freshman class.
The team is scheduled to compete in a pair of meets before the NJCAA Region XII Championship on Oct. 26. The national meet will take place in New Mexico on Nov. 9.
