Triceratops Rumble Into National Softball Rankings
Defending conference champions open season by beating three of country’s top teams
The Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C®) softball team climbed into the national rankings after beating beat three of the country’s top teams last week.
The Triceratops stomped #9 Triton College, #12 Madison College and #21 Heartland during a spring break trip to Florida. The team compiled an 8-4 record while playing doubleheaders over six consecutive days.
Tri-C’s performance definitely caught the attention of poll voters, who ranked Tri-C 17th in the NJCAA Division II rankings released Tuesday, March 19. The team had been unranked entering the season.
“We’re playing pretty well,” said head coach Bryan Komlos, now in his ninth season leading the team. “Hitting, pitching, defense … just solid all the way around.”
Tri-C finished 25-13 in 2018 while claiming the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference title for the second consecutive season and third time since 2013. The Triceratops play their home games at Western Campus in Parma.
The team continues its tough opening schedule Saturday, March 23, with two games against #14 CCBC Catonsville in Maryland. Conference play opens Friday, April 5.
