Tri-C’s Early Childhood Education Program Makes the Grade

National Association for the Education of Young Children renews accreditation

Two children drawing on a large chalkboard wallThe National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) has renewed accreditation for the early childhood degree program offered at Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C®).

Early childhood professional preparation programs serve a wide range of students and prepare educators for a variety of learning settings. Accreditation helps ensure program quality and alignment to industry standards.

Tri-C offers an Associate of Applied Science degree in Early Childhood Education. The College’s program is one of six in Ohio accredited by the NAEYC.

Nationwide, there are 207 accredited programs in 40 states.

The NAEYC’s Commission on the Accreditation of Early Childhood Higher Education Programs recently renewed accreditation at 14 institutions, including Tri-C. Four programs earned their first accreditation.

“We congratulate all of the programs that achieved accreditation in this recent review cycle,” said Mary Harrill, senior director of higher education at NAEYC. “This is a pivotal way in which they demonstrate their commitment to preparing high-quality early childhood educators and willingness to be held accountable to the profession and the public for ensuring that their graduates are ready to be effective in early learning settings.”
