Tri-C Students Receive Scholarships at Dr. King Observance

Eight students recognized for academic excellence and community service

Image of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. with text about Tri-C's 43rd annual observance of his birthdayCuyahoga Community College (Tri-C®) honored Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. by awarding scholarships to eight students during the College’s 43rd annual birthday observance of the civil rights leader.

The scholarships from the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Humanitarian Scholarship Fund recognize academic excellence and community service by Tri-C students who graduated from the Cleveland Metropolitan School District.

The 2020 scholarship recipients include:

  • Sherrell Adams of Cleveland, a graduate of Cleveland Early College High School who is working toward an Associate of Arts degree
  • Sujata Adhikari of Cleveland, a graduate of John Marshall High School who is studying to be a nurse
  • Perez Brown of Cleveland, a graduate of Glenville High School who is working toward a degree in small business management
  • Sharnetta Chandler of Maple Heights, a graduate of Max S. Hayes High School who is studying to be a nurse
  • Jeremy McDuffie of Euclid, a graduate of Martin Luther King Jr. Career Campus who is studying criminal justice
  • Katrina McKenzie of Cleveland, a graduate of Health Careers Center High School who is working toward a degree in human services
  • Aria Rivers of Maple Heights, a graduate of John Marshall High School who is studying to be a nurse
  • Monae Robinson of Cleveland, a graduate of John Adams High School who is working toward an Associate of Science degree

The Cuyahoga Community College Foundation established the scholarship fund in 1991 with support from the Cleveland Teachers Union and other generous donors.
