Tri-C Grad Adds to Knockout Resume
Morelle McCane becomes first female from Cleveland to win at National Golden Gloves
Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C®) graduate Morelle McCane made Cleveland boxing history last weekend.
McCane won the 165-pound division at the 2018 National Golden Gloves to become the first female champion from Northeast Ohio. She won the title with a dominating 5-0 victory over Leah Cooper of New York, according to cleveland.com.
The 22-year-old graduated from Tri-C last spring with an Associate of Applied Business degree. McCane said the College gave her the business muscle to open a mobile fitness company called MoFitt The Movement.
The company specializes in developing fun and creative routines to encourage exercise. MoFitt’s mission is to help clients build a healthy body and healthy mind while developing an active lifestyle.
The College featured McCane as a student success story prior to 2017 spring commencement.
The victory at National Golden Gloves followed McCane’s arm being raised at center ring at the USA Boxing Western Elite Qualifier and Regional Open Championships in March. She is vying for an invitation to the Olympic Training Center to compete for Team USA.
