The Winning Continues as Tri-C Basketball Player Claims Conference Honor

Tyrek Battle-Holley named Player of the Week after leading Triceratops to 10th consecutive victory

Tyrek Battle-HolleyAnother week of winning meant another week of awards for the men’s basketball team at Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C®) as it closed out the regular season.

Tyrek Battle-Holley earned Division II Player of the Week honors from the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference for games played Feb. 24-March 1 after leading the Triceratops to their 10th consecutive victory.

The guard scored 23 points while hitting on seven of eight shot attempts, including 2-3 from the three-point line. He added eight assists, seven rebounds and a pair of steals in the win over Clark State Community College.

This is Battle-Holley’s second weekly honor from the conference. The first came in February during the early stages of Tri-C’s winning streak.

The sophomore from New Jersey is working toward an Associate of Arts degree at the College.

Tri-C is 20-8 overall and ranked 20th in the regular season’s final NJCAA Division II poll. The team finished third in the conference standings, a game behind first-place Lakeland Community College.

The Triceratops enter postseason play as the #2 seed in the NJCAA Great Lakes South District men’s basketball tournament. They face Edison State Community College at 7 p.m. Friday, March 6, at Ohio University’s Lancaster campus.

The winner of the district tournament advances to the national tournament.
