Criminal justice student Shadaria Griffin awarded Cleveland Women’s City Club Foundation YWCA Scholarship
The path to Shadaria Griffin’s legal career just got a little smoother.
Griffin is a recipient of a 2018 Cleveland Women’s City Club YWCA Scholarship, which will help fund her education at Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C®). She is pursuing an Associate of Applied Science degree in criminal justice at Tri-C’s Metropolitan Campus.
Her interest in the legal field began when she shadowed Judge Michelle Paris at Bedford Municipal Court. Mentorship opportunities with local prosecutors expanded her knowledge of the judicial system and fueled her desire to serve the community.
The 23-year-old Cleveland resident already holds an Associate of Applied Science degree in paralegal studies from Bryant & Stratton College. She plans to pursue a bachelor’s degree from Cleveland State University upon graduation from Tri-C.
The Cleveland Women’s City Club Foundation YWCA Scholarship Fund supports female high school and GED graduates aging out of the foster care system. Griffin will be honored Monday during the YWCA’s 42nd annual Women of Achievement Awards Luncheon.
