Road to Success: Tri-C Auto Tech Student Honored
Austin Gatt named September 2020 Continental Student of the Month
Austin Gatt enrolled in a specialized Automotive Technology program at Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C®) this semester to learn how to diagnose, service and maintain Ford Motor Co. vehicles.
If he has his way, future students may be doing the same with Gatt Motor Co. vehicles.
That’s a reach goal Gatt shared after being named September 2020 Continental Student of the Month. The award is presented by Tomorrow’s Technician magazine and Continental Belts and Hose.
“I would love to be an automotive engineer or design my own engine or vehicle,” Gatt said. “The fact that someone’s last name is on a vehicle, like Ford or Cummins, just blows my mind. To be honest, I want ‘Gatt’ on a vehicle or engine.”

The Medina resident currently attends Ford’s Automotive Student Service Educational Training (ASSET) program at Tri-C. Ford ASSET is a paid internship program allowing students to earn while they learn.
Students typically complete the two-year program at Tri-C’s Western Campus with an associate degree and a job at a Ford dealership in Northeast Ohio.
Gatt graduated earlier this year from the Medina County Career Center, where he developed a reputation as a skilled technician and classroom leader. He won multiple honors in SkillsUSA competitions and was voted class president.
