Renovation Work to Begin at Tri-C Eastern Campus

Nov. 5 ceremony launches construction projects adding classrooms and labs

Rendering of a new lab space being created as part of the Eastern Campus renovationsUpcoming classroom and lab renovations promise to transform the Eastern Campus of Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C®) to meet the academic and workforce demands of tomorrow.

Projects include a reconfiguration of space to accommodate workforce training classrooms; upgrades to chemistry and physics labs; and reimagined classrooms for the College’s award-winning plant science program.

Plans also call for the creation of new walking paths and green spaces on campus to create a more vibrant atmosphere, as well as a reconfiguration of roadways.

The total cost of all projects is $18.9 million.

A ceremony launching the work will take place at 11:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 5. The event will take place at The Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel Humanities Center on campus, located at 4250 Richmond Road in Highland Hills.

“With these projects, Eastern Campus enters an exciting new era,” said Alex Johnson, president of Tri-C. “Our students will be learning and training in innovative spaces while using the technology demanded to succeed in the jobs of tomorrow.”

Voter approval of Tri-C’s bond issue request in November 2017 made the project possible. Approval of Issue 61 raised $227.5 million for the College to create new instructional space, keep pace with changing technology and address decades of wear and tear on buildings.

The renovations add to the list of Tri-C projects launched this year, including three new construction projects and the expansion of two technology centers.
