National Attention: Tri-C’s Devon Robinson Named NJCAA Player of the Week
Sophomore forward scores award while leading Challengers to another win
Devon Robinson stuffed the stat sheet with 38 points, 14 rebounds, nine steals and five assists while leading Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C®) to a conference victory last week.
Add another line to his tally from the night — one national award.
The NJCAA named Robinson its Division II Player of the Week for Jan. 8-14 following his explosive performance against Lorain County Community College. The sophomore forward’s night keyed Tri-C’s 80-65 victory.
Robinson also earned Player of the Week honors from the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference for his effort. He has won the award four times while leading the Challengers to a 17-0 record and the top ranking in the nation.
On the season, Robinson leads the conference in rebounds and steals and ranks among the top players in assists, blocks and points.
Robinson, who attended John Adams High School in Cleveland, is working toward an Associate of Arts degree at Tri-C. He recently received a full athletic scholarship to play next season for California University of Pennsylvania, a Division II NCAA school.
The Challengers are ranked first in the country in the most recent NJCAA Division II poll. The team plays its home games at Tri-C’s Metropolitan Campus gymnasium, located at the corner of East 30th Street and Community College Avenue in Cleveland.
