“Movement is Medicine”: Tri-C’s Massage Therapy Program Educates and Inspires
News-Herald highlights progress of program, now in its third decade
America has become a nation of offices and cubicles. Most of us have relatively sedentary desk jobs that require sitting for long periods of time. And when that happens, joints tighten, muscles stiffen and postures become problematic.
It’s why thousands of people each year seek the services of licensed massage therapists. And if you do so in Northeast Ohio, there is a good chance your massage therapist is a graduate of the Massage Therapy program at Cuyahoga Community College.
Tri-C is the only public college in the area with an accredited massage therapy program. Since its founding in 1998, the program has sent hundreds of licensed massage therapists into the workforce. As students, much of their training happens at the on-site massage therapy clinic at the Eastern Campus in Highland Hills.
The News-Herald recently featured Tri-C’s Massage Therapy program, including student Nic Bronkall and his three-word philosophy on treating the human body: “movement is medicine.”
