Men’s basketball to face ASU Mid-South in NJCAA First Round
Challengers head into championship tournament as No. 3 seed

The Tri-C men’s basketball team is headed to Danville, Illinois for the NJCAA Division II National Tournament. Tuesday, they found out who they’re facing in next week’s opening round.
Seeded third, the Challengers (29-1) will face 14th-seeded Arkansas State University Mid-South next Tuesday at 12 p.m. ET. The Greyhounds (26-5) are making their first appearance in the NJCAA Tournament after defeating Metropolitan Community College-Penn Valley in a regional final matchup on Saturday.
The winner of next Tuesday’s game will advance to the quarterfinal round on Thursday, March 22. The national semifinals are slated for Friday, March 23, with the Division II national championship game at 8:30 p.m. ET on Saturday, March 24.
All tournament games will be played at the Mary Miller Center on the campus of Danville Area Community College.
The Challengers celebrated their Region XII title in Circleville, Ohio on Saturday. Head coach Michael Duncan is hoping the nine-day layoff between games will give injured wing Devon Robinson enough time to finish healing from a broken wrist, allowing the Challengers to take the floor next Tuesday with a full squad for the first time in more than three months.
