Making a Difference: Micki Byrnes Honored for Work With Tri-C Foundation

Board member recognized with Chairperson’s Award for dedicated service

Micki ByrnesThe Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C®) Foundation recently presented its Chairperson’s Award to Micki Byrnes for her dedicated service to the organization and its student-focused mission.

The award honors individuals for significant and difference-making work with the Foundation. In recognizing Byrnes, Foundation leaders noted the impact of her strategic thinking and guidance in communications.

"Her creative and thoughtful advice has helped the Foundation share heartfelt student stories that reflect the power of a Tri-C education,” said John Skory, the Foundation’s 2019-2020 board chairperson, who presented the award.

Byrnes is president and general manager of WKYC Media, where she oversees operations of the broadcast station and its digital platforms. She has won numerous awards since joining Channel 3 in 1997 and was inducted into the Cleveland Association of Broadcasters Hall of Fame in 2013.

Aside from her community work with the Foundation, she currently gives her time to In Counsel With Women, American Red Cross, Cleveland Leadership Center, Coats for Kids, Destination Cleveland and the Ohio Association of Broadcasters.

Byrnes joined the Tri-C Foundation board in 2014. The Chagrin Falls resident received the Chairperson’s Award during the nonprofit organization’s annual meeting earlier this month.
