King of the Hill: Tri-C Pitcher Brock Begue Named NJCAA All-American
Freshman earns spot among the nation’s top players
Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C®) baseball player Brock Begue has been named a 2018 NJCAA Division II All-American, adding to his list of honors following a stellar season.
The left-hander ranked among the national leaders with an 11-1 record, a 2.07 ERA and 94 strikeouts in 69.2 innings for the Challengers. The freshman was named a third-team All-American. He was the only Ohio player honored.
In May, Begue earned first team all-conference honors from Ohio Community College Athletic Conference. He also claimed the conference Pitcher of the Week award twice during the season.
His success on the pitching mound adds another chapter to Begue’s miracle recovery story from childhood. Doctors questioned whether he would ever walk after a stroke and seizures ravaged his body after birth.
A resident of North Canton, Begue has not declared a major at Tri-C.
The Challengers ended the season ranked 15th in the nation, with a record of 41-11-1. The team finished second in the conference standings and third in the NJCAA Region XII regional tournament.
