Groovy News: Tri-C Hosts Retro ‘Spring Into Fitness 5K’ at Eastern Campus
Run/walk at Highland Hills campus will benefit student scholarships
Run back in time while raising money for student scholarships during the super-groovy Spring Into Fitness 5K at the Eastern Campus of Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C®).
The “retro” fun run and walk begins at 9 a.m. Saturday, April 21, at the campus, located at 4250 Richmond Road in Highland Hills. The multi-loop course circles the campus grounds like a tie-dye starburst.
A run/walk will also be held indoors in the campus gymnasium, where a DJ will be spinning old-school tunes as participants do laps.
Prizes will be given for the top three retro outfits among participants.
Online registration is open through 9 a.m. Friday, April 20, at www.tri-c.edu/SpringIntoFitness. Pre-registration cost is $20 ($15 for current Tri-C students). Day-of registration is $25 ($20 for Tri-C students).
Participants who register by April 11 are guaranteed a T-shirt and headband. Runners and walkers who register after that date will receive shirts and headbands as supplies last.
As a special offer, participants can add a body composition assessment to their registration. The analysis is done in a BodPod, which uses air displacement to gauge body fat and muscle mass. The cost for a registration and assessment is $35 ($30 for Tri-C students).
The Spring Into Fitness 5K is being managed and sponsored by the College’s Sport and Exercise Studies program. Proceeds from the event benefit student scholarships through the Cuyahoga Community College Foundation.
