Exercise Is Medicine graphic with nameLearn how fitness and lifestyle can improve your overall health during Exercise is Medicine on Campus, a free upcoming program at Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C®).

The event is open to the public and will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 10, in the Student Services building at Tri-C’s Eastern Campus, 4250 Richmond Road in Highland Hills.

Exercise is Medicine is part of a national initiative by the American College of Sports Medicine. The goal is to promote physical activity and a healthy lifestyle to help prevent many chronic diseases.

The event will feature a variety of fitness assessments and activities on the second floor of the Student Services building. Activities will include:

  • Chair massages by students in Tri-C’s Massotherapy program.
  • A bicep strength test using the Polar TriFIT machine.
  • The VibeCage, which utilizes whole body vibration to enhance physical therapy and sports performance.
  • The VersaPulley, a muscle-strengthening training system that mimics sports movements through pulleys and flywheel technology.
  • Cardiovascular assessments, including blood pressure and target heart rate calculations.

The event is sponsored by the College’s Sport and Exercise Studies program, which prepares students for careers as personal trainers, fitness specialists and other health-related professions.
