A Homecoming for the Humanities
Matthew Jordan returned to his roots when he became Tri-C’s dean of humanities
Matthew Jordan truly returned home when he took over leadership of the Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel Humanities Center at Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C®).
The College’s dean of humanities moved into his childhood home in Hudson after being hired last year. Hudson Life magazine — which clearly knows a good homecoming story — featured Jordan in its April edition.
Jordan said his passion for humanities and honors education led him to Tri-C and the Mandel Humanities Center, which seeks to be a national model in the field.
But the Hudson High grad also longed to return to Northeast Ohio with his wife and seven kids.
“Being in Cleveland makes it a dream job,” said Jordan, who previously served as director of the University Honors Program and deputy dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at Auburn University at Montgomery in Alabama.
