MUREP Aerospace Academy (MAA)
The Minority University Research and Education Project (MUREP) Aerospace Academy (MAA) is designed to expose historically underrepresented youth, grades K-12, to multiple hands-on activities related to the fields of science, engineering, mathematics and aerospace professions. The ultimate goal is to increase the number of students in the identified populations who enroll in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) academic majors in college.
Parents — we have a new Family Café experience (now called Fam Lab) just for you! Now you get to play with the same AEL high-speed toys…er, "tools"...that your youth get to use in MUREP. We also have two other special add-ons to the Fam Lab: First, you have the option to participate in BUOYANT, a low-tech (no computer needed) but extremely successful step-by-step process to achieve your goals and dreams. Whether you want to start a business or nonprofit, get the skills to thrive, launch a special event or any other project or dream that seems out of reach, BUOYANT is your solution! Second, we are introducing a set of workshops that will directly affect your family’s and your immediate well-being.
About MAA at Tri-C:
The MUREP Aerospace Academy engages K-12 students on Saturday mornings at the Tri-C® Metropolitan Campus in three eight-week sessions each academic year. While students are attending classes, parents and guardians are invited to participate in the MAA Fam Lab to experience interactive STEM activities and guest speaker presentations that support whole-family learning and prepare students for college or technical fields.
MAA scholars attend one session during the academic year and are welcome to return for the MAA Summer Session. The Summer session is for grades K-8.
MAA offers fun, hands-on activities focused on aerospace, earth science and robotics. This grant-funded program is open to all students in all districts in Cuyahoga County, including students who are home-schooled.
