Prepare to Embrace Change
By Ashley Speaker, Program Coordinator, Corporate College
Change. It happens all around us. Whether you’ve transitioned to telework or your production line is making a new essential item, change is happening ― and it’s happening fast.
Change is often unavoidable, and it can breed stress, anxiety and uncertainty among employees. But change doesn’t have to be a bad thing. In fact, it can be celebrated!
Change can:
- Bring teams together
- Bolster efficiency
- Save time and money
- Increase productivity
The Embracing Change at Work workshop at Corporate College® prepares individuals not only to embrace change, but also to become champions for the changes taking place in their organizations.
Four key elements for implementing change:
- Define what is changing and why.
This helps obtain buy-in throughout the organization. - Identify obstacles to change.
These may include funding barriers; a lack of training, equipment or communication; or emotional stress on employees. - List strategies for overcoming obstacles.
The list may include clear communication, training, procuring proper equipment or identifying funding. - Develop a plan for embracing change in the workplace.
Determine how you will champion the change(s) taking place and help others overcome anxiety through the process.
