Cap & Gown Overview
Cap, gown and tassel are the official regalia that must be worn at commencement by all graduates. You may purchase your keepsake cap, gown and colored tassel at your campus Barnes & Noble bookstore beginning Monday, March 26, 2018. Stoles are provided by the colleage, no purchase is necessary. Please note: you can purchase regalia up to day of ceremony at bookstore.
Tassel colors are:
- white for arts
- gold for science
- light brown for business and technical studies
Pricing for Spring 2018 Commencement regalia is:
Cap, Gown and Tassel (set): $41.95 (plus tax)
Gown only: $26.50 (plus tax)
Cap: $8.70 (plus tax)
Tassel only: $6.75 (plus tax)
There will be bookstore associates available day of ceremony, Thursday, May 17, 2018, at the Wolstein Center after 4:30 p.m. for any adjustments needed to students’ graduation apparel.

NOTE: Appropriate dress is required under your gown. Please plan to wear comfortable dress shoes, dress pants with a collared shirt (tie is optional), a skirt with a blouse, or a dress.
Degree-seeking students who have maintained a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or better by the end of Fall Semester 2017 will graduate with honors and receive an honor cord to wear with their academic regalia at Commencement. An honor cord may be picked up in a campus Student Life office beginning Monday, April, 23, 2018.
All students will be provided a white stole, no purchase is necessary. The stole is to be worn over the gown. If you have a stole from Phi Theta Kappa, The Black American Council or TRIO program you may wear multiple stole(s).
Cuyahoga Community College honors our veterans graduating in May 2018 with a red, white and blue medallion. Veterans who have RSVP’d for commencement may pick up a Veteran Medallion in a campus Student Life Office beginning Monday, April 23, 2018.
Phi Theta Kappa
Phi Theta Kappa, founded in 1918, is recognized as the official honor society for community colleges by the American Association of Community Colleges.
Members of Phi Theta Kappa may wear the society’s honors stole, made of gold satin and embroidered with the society’s Greek letters. The stole may be purchased here.
Students who will participate in the commencement ceremony may purchase commencement announcements (five-pack for $10.98) at a campus bookstore. Each announcement will include the date and time of the ceremony, a name card to fill in and the degree you will receive.
