Former BVL Employees Approved for the Educational Option

Thank you for choosing the Cuyahoga Community College - Educational Option as part of your severance package with Ben Venue Laboratories.  Below are instructions on how to maximize your Educational Benefit and specific actions steps necessary to access it.

Next Steps:

Step One: Complete the Tri-C college application

In order to establish a student identification (Sxxxxxxxx) number you MUST complete the Tri-C application, which can be found at: www.tri-c.edu/apply. This first step is absolutely necessary in order to set up your student account. Your Snumber will go to your email account that you put on your Tri-C application in 2-3 days. Now go to Step 2.

If you have been a student at Tri-C any time in the past, then you already have a Snumber established.  If you do not know your Snumber, please call 1-866-933-5175 or 216-987-3075.  Please identify yourself as a former Ben Venue employee. You will be given your Snumber and your password

Step Two: Activate your Benefit

Cuyahoga Community College has developed a website that will allow you to activate your educational benefit you have received from Ben Venue Laboratories. By completing this online registration form, you will provide “your intent to enroll in courses/programs” and satisfy Ben Venue Laboratories’ requirement that you initiate the benefit within the first six months after your termination date. We appreciate the number of Ben Venue employees that have completed this step, however, if you have not already done so, please complete the BVL registration form as soon as possible. If you have completed the online registration form, then go to Step 3.

Step Three: You must attend a Ben Venue Information Session*

We are holding information sessions at our Corporate College East facility located at 4400 Richmond Road, Warrensville Heights. The purpose of these sessions is to provide an overview of program offerings at Cuyahoga Community College, answer your questions on steps needed to meet your education objectives, guide you to maximizing the educational benefit you have selected, and provide guidance on eligible expenses for your $6,000 educational option. The schedule is as follows:

  • Wednesday, December 3rd  from 10am-11am and 6pm-7pm
  • Wednesday, December 10th from 10am-11am and 6pm-7pm
  • Wednesday, December 17th from 10am-11am and 6pm-7pm

Please RSVP for the session that you wish to attend using the Survey Monkey (https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/BVLINFO). You may wish to attend more than one session if you like. We encourage you to attend at least one so that you can completely understand your benefit and how to navigate through Tri-C.

Additional sessions will be scheduled, please check the Ben Venue web portal on the College’s website

*If you can not attend please review the Ben Venue Presentation and email Jason Abbott (jason.abbott@tri-c.edu)

Step Four: Register for Program/Courses and get Student Identification Card

Once you have initiated your benefit by completing the online form through the Tri-C Ben Venue web portal (www.tri-c.edu/benvenue), attended an information session (strongly encouraged to attend), and determine the program or courses you wish to enroll, you can begin using your education benefit provided by Ben Venue Laboratories. You must register for a course in order to get a student Identification Card. You must have a student identification card (can be obtained at any Campus Student Services Building) to purchase your books, supplies, and computer related items from the book store. Your identification card is also necessary to take advantage of all Tri-C support services.

To register for class you must log on to My-Tri-C Space. On your first login your password will be your birthday or social Security number. After you have completed your registration, immediately email bursar@tri-c.edu (Please leave your student ID number, term you enrolled, courses enrolled, and indicate that you have the Ben Venue Benefit in the email).

Step Five: Purchase Items from the Book Centers

Once your student account has been set up and you have obtained your student identification card and registered for a class, you may purchase your books and course-related supplies from the bookstore and charge these expenses to your student account. These expenses will be deducted from your $6,000 educational benefit and the balance will remain in your student account for future courses/programs and book center items.

For Technology Purchases: You must contact Debbie Peterson to purchase technology from the book store using BVL funds. Debbie can be reached at debbie.peterson@tri-c.edu between the hours of 9:00 am - 3:30 pm, Monday – Friday.
