Cross Country Results
It was another terrific season for the women’s cross country team. Five Challenger women earned Academic All-America honors with the team GPA of 3.908. This placed the team 3rd in the country for team GPA. This follows up the 2016 National Academic Team Championship. Cuyahoga had the top cross country team GPA in 2016 at a 3.985. Earning Academic All-America in 2017 included Caroline Lapish (Madison, Ohio), Sonnie Sauvinsky (Rootstown, Ohio), Alyssa Fallon (Olmsted Falls, Ohio), Taylor Badamo (North Royalton, Ohio) and Shelbie Sporcich (Ashtabula, Ohio).
Despite the wind and freezing rain, the women’s cross country team once again finished in the top 20 at the NJCAA Division I National Cross Country Championship. The average team time of 20:47 placed the women 19th in the country. Leading the way for Cuyahoga was Caroline Lapish who finished 50th with a time of 19:31. Caroline was followed to the finish line by Sonnie Sauvinsky in 20:23, Shelbie Sporcich 20:25, Taylor Badamo 20:44 and Jordan Kati (Eastlake, Ohio) in 21:10.
