August 17 - COVID-19 Case at the Jerry Sue Thornton Center

JERRY SUE THORNTON CENTER

An individual received a positive COVID-19 test result Tuesday, Aug. 17. The individual was last on-site in JSTC 144 on Monday, Aug. 16. Areas visited by the individual were cleaned and sanitized after the exposure was reported and will be cleaned and sanitized repeatedly in the course of normal operations.

Students, faculty and staff who were in close contact with the above-mentioned individual have been notified, advised to self-monitor using the College’s health assessment and/or self-quarantine for 14 days, and provided with testing information. Individuals who test positive are advised to follow all medical and public health guidance and College protocols prior to returning to campus. Any individual whose actions related to an on-campus exposure potentially violate College guidance are referred for appropriate disciplinary review.

August 10 - Clarify Current Protocols

As of yesterday, Monday, Aug. 9, the social distancing requirement in classrooms is 3 feet. Social distancing in all other areas of the College will continue to be 6 feet. These guidelines follow recommendations from the CDC, the state and Cuyahoga County.

Workplace spacing assessments across the College are ongoing. If you have concerns about spacing in your work area, contact your supervisor, who will work with Risk Management.

Masks must be worn inside any Tri-C building, regardless of your vaccination status.

Fully vaccinated employees may remove their masks in certain situations:

-If your workspace has a door and/or walls, dividers or plexiglass shields, you may remove your mask when alone.
-If your workspace does not have a door and/or walls or dividers but is 6 feet or further from another person, you may remove your mask when alone.

Masks must be worn in meetings of two or more individuals even when 6-foot social distancing is observed.

Masks should be worn outdoors on College property wherever 6-foot social distancing cannot be maintained.

All visitors must follow Tri-C’s masking and social distancing guidelines.

Students and contractors have been notified of the guidelines that apply to them. Signage has been placed in all buildings to notify individuals coming to a Tri-C campus or facility for the first time. Additionally, information will continue to be posted on our website and shared through social media.

August 3 - Masks Required on Campus, Effective August 4

Over the weekend, Cuyahoga County’s level of transmission moved to substantial. For the safety and well-being of the College community, and to align with CDC recommendations, everyone — regardless of vaccination status — will be required to wear a mask inside College facilities beginning Aug. 4. All employees and visitors should continue to practice 6-foot social distancing. Masks should also be worn outdoors on College property whenever 6-foot social distancing cannot be maintained.

We will continue to monitor the situation and consider recommendations from the county, the governor and the CDC and will adjust our approach — which may include the extent of our on-ground presence — as appropriate.
