Dec. 7 - Message from the Provost: Final Grades, Flexibility Thanks, Leaves of Absence,  READ Campaign

Hard to believe it’s finals week! A few important reminders below.

  • Grades are due on Tuesday, Dec. 5 at 4 p.m. for fall semester. Should you have any questions, please contact our Registrar, Chris Dorsten, at chris.dorsten@tri-c.edu.

  • As you are aware, confirmed cases of COVID-19 continue to dramatically increase throughout Cuyahoga County, and many of our students have been affected. I want to extend my ongoing thanks to our faculty for their flexibility with our students who are ill or in quarantine and/or need on-ground clinicals and other courses to complete this fall. I also appreciate you working with those students who, due to illness, must take an incomplete this semester. It’s been a year of flexibility and empathy, that’s for sure.

  • We all have times when we may need to take some time off work to tend to our own health or that of a spouse, child or parent. When you (staff/faculty) need to be absent for more than five consecutively scheduled work days or for a period of frequent absences related to a serious health condition, you may contact UNUM’s Leave Management Center to initiate a leave of absence request. Keep in mind that each leave is unique, therefore it is important that you contact Megan Whitmore, leave administrator, to discuss the specifics of your particular leave. Here is a list of contacts and resources, in addition to the AAUP Agreement itself, for you to access to get answers to all your questions. The “leave of absence” process can be stressful if you are experiencing a serious health condition but the Total Rewards Team in Human Resources is here to help. All information is maintained confidentially.
    o Megan Whitmore, Leave Administrator: megan.whitmore@tri-c.edu, 216-987-0485
    o UNUM: 1-866-779-1054 from 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. EST
o Employee Resource Guide / Total Rewards / Leaves of Absence: https://my.tri-c.edu/web/home-community/employee

  • We are excited to announce that we are extending our virtual READ: Poster and READ: Video programs indefinitely and are encouraging all students, faculty, and staff to participate. This is a fantastic opportunity to share your favorite book with your students and colleagues in an online environment!
o READ: Posters: If you are interested in having a digital READ poster made, please email a vertical photo of yourself holding your favorite book to peter.jennings@tri-c.edu. The faculty librarians will create your own digital READ poster to share with friends, family, students, etc. You can see previous participants’ images here.
o READ: Videos: If you would like to share a testimonial (up to 5 minutes) about a book, eBook, graphic novel, or other publication that stands out to you, please follow the link to our Flipgrid site (https://flipgrid.com/ccclibrary) and upload your video. You can also view other "READ: Videos" on the site.

Good luck with finals week!

Dec. 4 - Important Updates to Fall Semester Schedule

Due to the ongoing surge in COVID-19 cases, the College is revising the fall semester schedule changes (announced Oct. 29) to keep you safe and help stop the spread of the virus:

  • Student services will not resume on-ground operations from Dec. 10-23, but will continue to operate remotely until Dec. 23. Following Winter Break (Dec. 24-Jan. 3) student services will resume remote operations from Jan. 4-13.
  • Administrative staff, with the exception of essential personnel, who had been working on site with supervisor approval prior to Nov. 23, should continue to work remotely through Jan. 13.
  • The majority of classes are already operating remotely, with the exception of a few hands-on classes or labs needed for fall semester coursework completion. Please contact your VP, dean or campus president if there are extenuating circumstances.
  • ProctorU stations on our campuses will not be open Dec. 10 or 11. Students who planned to use ProctorU on-site should contact their instructors. Students can continue to access ProctorU online.
  • Campus bookstores will be open Dec. 7-18 for book buybacks. Hours will be 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

At this time, we plan to follow the previously announced changes to the spring semester schedule posted on the Tri-C coronavirus webpage, KWeb and the my Tri-C space homepage.

As always, we will continue to monitor the situation, adjust plans as needed and advise you of any changes. For your safety and that of others, please limit your travel, avoid large gatherings, wear a mask, wash your hands frequently and maintain six feet of social distancing.

Dec. 4 - Message from the Provost: Remote Services, ProctorU

As you are aware, the COVID-19 numbers continue to increase in the city of Cleveland, Cuyahoga County and throughout the state of Ohio. As a result, the College has announced that remote services will be extended from Dec. 10 – Jan. 13.

Due to this change, the ProctorU stations on campus will not be available to students that do not haveappropriate technology equipment or secure internet on Dec. 10 and 11 as previously announced.  ProctorU services remain available to students and faculty as usual if accessed offsite. The students with current reservations to use on campus ProctorU stations have been notified and are being told to contact their instructor if needed.

Please continue to be flexible and supportive as our students complete the term. Thank you and have a great weekend.
