September 19, 2017

On Tuesday, Cuyahoga Community College nursing graduate Jennifer Miller became the latest recipient of Western Governors University’s Ohio Community College Scholarship.
The scholarship, awarded during a short presentation at Tri-C’s Westshore Campus, allows Miller up to $2,500 to continue her studies at WGU -- $625 per term, renewable for up to four terms.
WGU is an online university established in 1997 by the cooperative efforts of 19 U.S. state governors.
The WGU Ohio Community College Scholarship was created as part of the partnership between WGU and the Ohio Association of Community Colleges (OACC). It is open to qualified students and employees from OACC member colleges who have been officially admitted to WGU. Scholarships are awarded based on academic record, readiness for online learning, current competency and additional considerations.
The partnership between WGU and OACC offers multiple benefits to students looking to continue their education. In addition to scholarship opportunities, the partnership allows for a more seamless transfer of credits from an OACC member school to WGU, and tuition discounts of up to 5 percent.
