November 01, 2017

After finishing last season with a 28-3 record and an appearance in the NJCAA Region XII District 11 championship game, the Cuyahoga Community College men’s basketball team will begin the 2017-2018 season ranked among the best squads in the state and nation.
In the first Ohio Community College Athletic Conference coaches’ poll of the 2017-2018 season, the Challengers edged Sinclair Community College for the top spot, with five first-place votes to Sinclair’s four.
Nationally, Tri-C grabbed the No. 12 ranking in the preseason NJCAA coaches’ poll. Sinclair (20) was the only other Ohio school to rank in the top 20.
This year’s squad returns the top three leading scorers from last year – swingman Quintin Dove (13.1 points per game), swingman Devon Robinson (11.6 PPG) and center Wade Lowman (11.9 PPG). Robinson averaged a double-double for the Challengers last year, pulling down 10.2 rebounds per game to go with his scoring average.
The Challengers tip off the new season this evening at 6:30 with a home game against the Community College of Allegheny County-Allegheny Campus. Home games are played at the Metropolitan Campus Recreation Center, located at the corner of Community College Ave. and E. 30th St. Admission is free.
