Trustee Rachel Von Hendrix running to raise WIT scholarship funds
May 09, 2017
On May 21, Cuyahoga Community College Trustee Rachel Von Hendrix will be among the thousands of runners taking to the streets in the 40th Rite Aid Cleveland Marathon. But Trustee Von Hendrix won’t be running just for herself – she’ll be running for Tri-C’s Women in Transition program.
For the second straight year, Trustee Von Hendrix is running to raise scholarship funds for the WIT program. Last year, she endured frozen precipitation and unseasonably cold temperatures in the Cleveland Half Marathon. This year, she’s doubling her distance and doubling her fundraising goal. She will run the full 26.2-mile Cleveland Marathon, with the goal of raising $10,000.
A fundraising page has been set up for those who want to support WIT and Trustee Von Hendrix with donations.
The WIT program is based at the Eastern, Metropolitan, Western and Corporate College West campuses. It provides resources, information, support and training to women undergoing transitional periods in their lives – including those in the midst of a career change, women who have been recently divorced, recently widowed, returning to the work force after time away, and others. The program’s services are available year-round at all four campuses.
