The Cuyahoga Community College men’s basketball team has been tearing up the schedule thus far in the 2016-2017 season, bringing a 14-0 record into their Wednesday game against Hocking College.

The unblemished start to the season has garnered national recognition for the Challengers. The squad was ranked fourth nationally in the most recent National Junior College Athletic Association coaches’ poll, released Dec. 20. Freshman guard Devon Robinson was named the NJCAA Division II player of the week for Dec. 12-18, averaging 16 points and 13.5 rebounds per game.

The streaking Challengers are also starting to gain local attention – no small feat amid the flood of headline-grabbing moves recently made by Cleveland’s professional teams.

Tuesday at 8 p.m., Robinson, leading scorer Quintin Dove and leading assist man Elmange Watson will join head coach Michael Duncan on “Munch on Sports,” heard on ESPN 850 AM WKNR. Coach Duncan and his trio of stars will talk with host Mark “Munch” Bishop about the team’s hot start, upcoming schedule and the rejuvenation of the Tri-C men’s basketball program.

Starting Wednesday, the Challengers have eight more home games during the regular season:

Wednesday, 6:30 p.m., vs. Hocking College

Jan. 18, 6:30 p.m., vs. Columbus State Community College

Jan. 21, 2 p.m., vs. Sinclair Community College

Jan. 28, 2 p.m., vs. Lakeland Community College

Feb. 1, 6:30 p.m., vs. Owens Community College

Feb. 11, 2 p.m., vs. Clark State Community College

Feb. 18, 2 p.m., vs. Cincinnati State Community College

Feb. 22, 6:30 p.m., vs. Lorain County Community College

All home games are played at the Tri-C Metro Campus recreation center, located at the corner of East 30th St. and Community College Ave. Admission is free.
