Tri-C among Ohio schools reaching out to former ITT Tech students
September 09, 2016
Cuyahoga Community College is among the institutions in Ohio working to find solutions for students affected by the nationwide closure of ITT Technical Institute on Sept. 6.
ITT Tech closed its doors after the for-profit school system was banned from receiving federal financial aid dollars in August.
Tri-C is one of the colleges working with the U.S. Department of Education and the Higher Learning Commission to find solutions for the approximately 35,000 ITT Tech students with federal loans who were displaced by the closure.
Tri-C is “committed to working with former ITT Tech students to help them determine the best plan for their future and will be sharing further information at www.tri-c.edu/itt.”
In an NPR report on WCPN in Cleveland, U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown of Ohio encouraged the displaced students to look at their options, but also cautioned students to make sure they fully understand which ITT Tech credits will transfer to other schools.
