At its Fall Commencement Dec. 17, Cuyahoga Community College awarded a posthumous degree to Megan Crable, who died of leukemia in 2010. Accepting the degree was Ryan Crable, Megan Crable's 12-year-old son.

A chance encounter brought to College officials' attention that, before she passed away, Crable had earned enough credits to receive her associate degree. She was planning to become a nurse.

The Plain Dealer, via cleveland.com, covered the story. Read about Ryan accepting the degree.
