Enrollment Checklist

Apply to Tri-C

  • Visit tri-c.edu/apply and select "Apply Now." Then click "Start Application."
  • If you have already started your application, instead of clicking “Start Application,” click on the “Sign In” button in the top right corner. You may be prompted to reset your password.
  • Applying does not enroll you in the CDL program. It only creates or reactivates your Tri-C student ID number (S-Number). If you have trouble applying, contact Admissions and Enrollment Services at 216-987-6000.

Complete the Truck Driving Academy Application

  • Complete the Truck Driving Academy Application.
  • Include the S-Number you received when you applied to Tri-C.

Submit Transcripts

  • Contact your high school, college or GED school and request to have your transcripts emailed to registraroffice@tri-c.edu.
  • *If you do not have a high school or GED diploma, contact the Adult Diploma Program for additional information.

Secure Funding for Tuition

Federal financial aid does not apply, but there may be funding options available to you.

  • Pay out of pocket (self-pay)
  • Tri-C Workforce Scholarships — visit Workforce Training Scholarships for more information.
  • See FAQ for more information on third-party funding options.

Compile Required Documents

Gather copies of all the required documents needed for enrollment and email them to transportation@tri-c.edu or call 216-987-3226 to schedule an appointment to drop the documents off in a sealed envelope.

  • Truck Driving Academy Application
  • Transcripts: If you did not email in your transcripts, you may bring in a copy of your high school, GED* or college diploma.
    • *If you do not have a high school or GED diploma, contact the Adult Diploma Program for additional information
  • Driver’s License: A copy of the front and back of your driver’s license.
  • Driver’s Abstract: A 36-month (three-year) driver’s abstract can be purchased at any Bureau of Motor Vehicles.
  • Commercial Learner’s Permit Test (CLP): Pass the basic CDL permit test at the BMV. Make sure to request a printout to show you passed. Do not purchase a permit.
    • You must have your CLP at least three weeks before class begins.
    • Study the Ohio Commercial Driver License Manual to prep for the exam.

Submit Required Documents

Scan and email all the required documents to transportation@tri-c.edu.
