Panopto is a lecture capture video platform that allows for the simultaneous capture of audio, video and software applications (e.g., Microsoft PowerPoint) that you can then edit and share. Panopto includes interactive video features like notes, bookmarks and quizzes, with video captioning. Panopto is very useful in providing distance learning, flipped learning, aiding knowledge recall and providing students with additional accessibility and learning needs. It can be used by faculty, staff and students to record and view video recordings. These recordings can then be shared and viewed in Brightspace, directly in Panopto or via the Panopto mobile app.
When Will I Be Able To Access Panopto?
A phased rollout and transition from Mediasite is scheduled to begin in March 2026, with full implementation in May 2026. By the end of Spring 2026, all lecture capture activities will be hosted on Panopto.
How should I prepare my Brightspace courses for this transition?
At this point, the best thing to do is to make sure you have an understanding of where in your course you might be using Mediasite. Consider lecture recordings, PowerPoints with accompanying video, quizzes, WeVideo integrations and any other ways you make use of Mediasite. That deep knowledge of how your course is built will be helpful as we make this transition.
Students currently have no access to Panopto. For information about Tri-C's current video hosting and lecture capture software, please visit our Mediasite resource site.
Faculty currently have no access to Panopto and should continue to use Mediasite for all lecture capture purposes until further notice.
Is Mediasite going away?
Mediasite will be phased out beginning in Spring 2026. Starting in Summer 2026, all lecture capture activities will take place via Panopto.

I will be teaching in Spring or Summer 2026. Should I get rid of my Mediasite links now?
Those teaching in Spring 2026 (including the second 8-week term) should continue to use Mediasite as planned. However, Mediasite will not be available for any courses after Spring 2026. Instructors teaching in Summer 2026 and beyond should familiarize themselves with Panopto. Training will be available after Spring Break of 2026.
