Established by numerous donations including donations made in honor of Rex Smith, Charles Oakley, Jr., and Hank Aaron, and in memory of Michael Stevenson Wright.

Stanli K. Becker Memorial Scholarship
The fund was established in 1994 by family and friends of Stanli K. Becker, late director of Tri-C’s Youth Development Program, in memory of her work with the youth of Greater Cleveland and to provide for the continuation of her work.
Criteria
• 2.5 GPA
• Minimum of 12 semester credits
• Preference given to individuals from the Greater Cleveland Area who promote academic excellence, cultural enrichment, and career exploration in preparing local youth to face the challenges of the future.
K. Michael Benz Small Business Management Scholarship
Established in 1987 to honor K. Michael Benz, then-chairman of The Tri-C Foundation. Mr. Benz currently serves as President of United Way Services of Cleveland. Mr. Benz again served as the Chairman of the Tri-C Foundation Board of Directors from 1998-2000 and was made a Life Director in 2000. This fund is supported by numerous donations including donations made in memory of Milton A. Roemisch.

Rena J. Blumberg Scholarship
Established in recognition of Rena J. Blumberg Olshansky, whose spirit of helping others any time, any place and anywhere makes the place we live better for all.
Criteria:
• Major program of study in Journalism and Mass Communications with an emphasis in media communications
• Commitment to family, church, and community as evidenced by volunteer work, particularly with caring for the elderly or working with the youth
Hector Boiardi (Chef Boy-Ar-Dee) Memorial Scholarship
Established by the Boiardi family in honor of the late Hector Boiardi, a world-renowned chef and developer of food products marketed under the trade name Boy-Ar-Dee.
Criteria:
• 2.5 GPA
• Demonstrate serious interest in studying culinary art/hospitality management
Book Centers Scholarship
Established by Tri-C Campus Book Centers managers and staff.
Criteria
• 3.0 GPA
• One award per campus to be made on annual basis

Dr. Reginald Buckner Scholarship
Established in honor of Dr. Reginald Buckner, Dowd Transportation, and Oscar Peterson, who are inspiring jazz professionals and enthusiasts.
Criteria:
• 2.5 GPA
• Demonstrated serious interest in studying jazz or jazz-related music
• Demonstrated musical ability and achievement
Yetta Burges Memorial Scholarship
Established in memory of Yetta Burges by her family and friends.
Criteria
• Enrolled in a college transfer program pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Humanities or Social Sciences
• 3.0 GPA
George Buzash Memorial Scholarship
Established in memory of George Buzash, a Tri-C Western Campus counselor.
Criteria
• Majoring in a Baccalaureate Transfer/Liberal Arts program
• 3.0 GPA
• Full-time Western Campus student
• Awarded to one student per semester (renewable if student maintains requirements)
Laurence C. Cassidy Memorial Scholarship
Established in memory of Larry Cassidy who was a graduate of Tri-C and a maintenance mechanic at the Metropolitan Campus.
Criteria:
• 3.0 GPA
• Minimum of six semester credits
• Successfully completed one semester
Nancy Champion Scholarship
Established in honor of Nancy Lugibihl Champion, a former Tri-C Trustee.
Criteria
• Enrolled in a Business degree program

Robert J. Clark Memorial Scholarship Fund
Established in 1998 as a memorial tribute to Cleveland Police Detective Robert J. Clark by his loving family, friends and colleagues. Visit www.detectiverobclark.org to learn more about Detective Clark’s legacy and the memorial endowments established in his memory.

Cleveland Cavaliers and Majestic Steel USA Manufacturing Scholarship
The Cleveland Cavaliers and Majestic Steel USA will be awarding four $2,000 scholarships for the 2008-2009 school year to students enrolled in one of Tri-C’s Manufacturing programs. A separate application is required and must be submitted to the Cavaliers by March 10, 2008. Applications can be found at http://www.nba.com/cavaliers/community/index.html.
Criteria
• Graduating high school seniors attending Tri-C in Fall 2008 and pursing a degree in manufacturing
• Current Tri-C students enrolled in a Manufacturing program
• Application postmarked by March 10, 2008
Cleveland Family Development Collaborative Scholarship
Applicants will be interviewed and reviewed after submitting three letters of recommendation and the Cleveland Family Development Scholarship for Social Work application to the Cleveland Family Development Collaborative Scholarship Committee. Contact the Office of Financial Assistance at your campus for more information.
Criteria
• 2.0 GPA
• Completed at least six credit hours
• Pursuing an Associate’s of Arts degree with a concentration in Social Work and declare an intention to continue study in Social Work at the Baccalaureate level
• Completed or be enrolled in ENG 1010, SOC 1010 and SOC 2050
• Preference given to Fairfax/East Village residents, and practitioners from Cleveland Family Development Collaborative Steering Committee member organizations
Cleveland Teachers Union Scholarship
Established in memory of former Tri-C Trustee and CTU President James E. O'Meara and former CTU President Eugene G. Kolach.
Criteria
• 3.0 GPA
• Cleveland Municipal School District graduate
• Demonstrated community leadership
Claressa Collins Scholarship
Established by Tri-C alumna Claressa Collins (Class of 1978).
Criteria
• Enrolled in classes majoring in Computer Studies or Accounting
• 3.5 GPA and 3.0 GPA in major
• Preference given to part-time students
• Preference given to a City of Cleveland resident

Ardelia Lois Dickens and Zella M. Haggins Memorial Scholarship
Established in memory of Ardelia Lois Dickens, who enrolled at Tri-C at the age of 42, graduated with an Associate’s of Applied Science degree in Nursing in 1976, and became a registered nurse. The fund was augmented by Edward T. Haggins in memory of his wife, Zella M. Haggins, who was the sister of Ardelia Lois Dickens. Mrs. Haggins graduated from Tri-C with honors in 1982 at the age of 56.
Criteria:
• Major in Nursing or a Health Careers program that would include training as a therapist
• African-American student
• Student is expected to contribute, in part, toward his/her own educational costs
Displaced Homemakers Scholarship
Established in honor of the East Cleveland Women’s Club and in memory of Geraldine L. Jaros and Stephanie Martin.
Criteria:
• Enrolled in or a graduate of the Displaced Homemakers Program
• 27 years of age or older and perform in the role of homemaker; lost his/her main source of income through divorce, separation, or the death, disability or long-term unemployment of spouse

Established in honor of Dr. Nolen M. Ellison who served as Cuyahoga Community College’s second President from 1974 to 1991. The fund recognizes Dr. Ellison’s superb vision, leadership, dedication and commitment to the College, its students and the community.

Established by The GAR Foundation and William Sopko & Sons, Inc.

• Enrolled in any Engineering & Industrial Technologies programs (includes Apprenticeship program)

William Falkenstein, Jr. Memorial Scholarship
Established in memory of William A. Falkenstein, Jr. Recipients are designated as the William A. Falkenstein Scholar.
Criteria:
• Physician Assistant or Surgical Physician Assistant program majors

• Second-year student (completed first two semesters)
Fannie Mae Scholarship
Established by the Fannie Mae Foundation to bring more minority and female, post-high school youth into the banking industry. It is available to students in the Mortgage Finance Program at Tri-C, which provides training for entry-level positions leading to future advancement in the mortgage finance industry.
Criteria (The scholarship can be awarded based on any one of these criteria):
• Enrolled in the Mortgage Finance Program

• Professional development /career advancement
First Generation Scholarship
Established to benefit individuals who will be the first generation of their family to attend college. This fund is supported by numerous donations including donations made in honor of Mary Rose Oakar

Ford Motor Company Scholarship
Established by the Ford Motor Company and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
Criteria:
• Minorities and women with preference given to Ford employees, their spouses and children
• Employment by student or student's relationship to a Ford Motor Company employee must be verified by the Ford Motor Company
• If no Ford employee, spouse, or child applies, other minority or women applicants are eligible
• Renewable three times
• No allowance for recreational, sports, or social activities unless it is required by a degree program
Founders Scholarship
Established in honor of Mr. Robert L. Lewis, a founding College trustee and first Chairperson of the College Board, and Dr. Charles Chapman, the College’s founding president. The fund recognizes their superb vision, leadership, dedication and commitment to Tri-C, its students and the community and will serve as a lasting legacy to the College’s founders.

Frances Franklin Memorial Scholarship
Established by the Tri-C Black Caucus in honor of Frances Franklin's lifetime contributions as an educator. This fund is supported by numerous donations including donations made in honor of Dorothea Brown.

Gap Scholarship
Established to support students who may not qualify for Federal and State financial assistance but demonstrate financial need necessary for credit instructional programs and/or workforce training programs. Awards may also be considered for childcare, temporary transportation costs and other situations that may restrict the students’ access to education. This fund is supported by numerous donations including donations made in honor of Michael R. White and in memory of Ralph Delaney and John Rudnicki.

• May not qualify for Federal or State financial assistance but demonstrates financial need

Gardiner Family Foundation Mechanical Engineering Scholarship
Established by the Gardiner Family Foundation and Gardiner Trane, a provider of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems since 1962. Two awards in the amount of $1,000 are made each year.
Criteria:
• Enrolled in Mechanical Engineering Technology program
General Scholarship
Established by the Cuyahoga Community College Foundation to encourage and motivate Tri-C students. This fund is supported by numerous donations including donations made in honor of John and Anna Glenn, William Bryant and in memory of Lonnie Burten, Duane Arthur Collins, and George A. Moore.

• Show measurable standards of progress toward a degree or certificate
Dr. David G. Gillespie Memorial Respiratory Care Scholarship
Established in memory of David G. Gillespie, M.D. who founded and served as the first medical director of the Respiratory Care program at Cuyahoga Community College.
Criteria:
• First-year student, pursuing an Associate’s of Respiratory Care degree and having completed at least one academic term in good program standing
• 3.0 GPA
• African-American student
Joseph T. Gorman/TRW Inc. Jazz Studies Scholarship
Established in honor of Joseph T. Gorman, former Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of TRW Inc., and the significant contributions of Mr. Gorman and TRW to the Tri-C JazzFest and Jazz Studies program.

• Demonstrate serious interest in studying jazz or jazz-related music
• Demonstrate musical ability and achievement

Health Careers Institute Scholarship
Established through a grant from the David and Inez Myers Foundation, this scholarship is designed to meet workforce-training needs of various health career occupations. Awards may also be made for educational expenses, such as child care, temporary transportation costs, tutoring and other situations that may restrict their access to education

• Enrolled in a Health Careers Institute Program
Owen L. Heggs Memorial Scholarship
Established in memory of Owen L. Heggs, late Chairman of the Tri-C Board of Trustees and Jones Day partner.
Criteria
• 3.5 GPA
• Second-year students who exhibit scholarliness and leadership
• Preference to minority students
Dr. Angela Hergenroeder Scholarship
Established in memory of former faculty member, Dr. Angela Hergenroeder, for her contributions to the Court Reporting and Captioning Department.
Criteria:
• Court and Conference Reporting students
• 3.0 GPA since admission into the program
• Successfully completed a minimum of one semester of study with the Court and Conference Reporting Department
Hispanic Scholarship
Established by the Tri-C Foundation and the Hispanic Steering Council to support Hispanic students. This fund is supported by numerous donations including funds from the William Senquiz Scholarship.
Criteria:
• Hispanic students
• 2.5 GPA
• Preference given to full-time students with financial need; must have letter of acceptance and transcripts on file
• Students recommended by Tri-C’s Hispanic Steering Council
Anne Holden Memorial Scholarship
Established by Grenville R. and Jean Holden in memory of their daughter, Anne Holden. Two-thirds of awards are designated for career program scholarships and one-third is limited to academic program scholarships. Continuing scholarship support may be made available to students who desire to obtain a Baccalaureate degree or a more advanced degree at any institution of higher education provided students demonstrate financial need.

• Preference given to City of Cleveland residents
• Metropolitan Campus student
• Demonstrate the minimum-passing grade in all courses

Established in memory of Julie Ann Homick, a Tri-C student with a generous spirit.

Established in honor of Mary Louise Coyne, a former professor in the Hospitality Management Program, and in memory of John R. Schultz.

JAM – GED Endowment Scholarship
Established by the JAM Foundation to provide scholarships for graduates of the Seeds of Literacy GED program and other GED graduates.
Criteria:
• Preference will be given to Seeds of Literacy GED graduates.
• If no Seeds of Literacy GED graduates are identified, other GED graduates will be considered.
Dr. Henderson Andrew Johnson, III Scholarship
Established in honor of Dr. Henderson Andrew Johnson, the founding Chairman of the Cuyahoga Community College Foundation and leader of the Tri-C Dental Program.
Criteria:
• Enrolled in Dental Program
• 2.0 GPA
• Preference is given to minorities and socially and economically disadvantaged high school graduates (or equivalent)
Journalism and Mass Communications Scholarship
Established in honor of the chosen profession of Cokie Roberts, keynote speaker of the 1998 Presidential Scholarship Luncheon. This fund is supported by numerous donations including donations made in memory of Christopher Colombi and Gerald H. Gordon.

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Humanitarian Scholarship
Established by the Cleveland Teachers Union in honor of the slain civil rights leader and enhanced by the Black McDonald’s Owners of Cleveland. Financial assistance is awarded to students regardless of race, creed, color, or national origin. This fund is supported by numerous donations including donations made in memory of Herman B. Alexander and Zelma W. George.
Criteria:
• 3.5 GPA
• Cleveland Municipal School District graduate
• Cuyahoga County resident and a U.S. citizen
• Full-time student with sophomore status working toward an associate’s degree
• Demonstrated humanitarian service to the community and campus leadership
Karen Kress-Burke Memorial Scholarship
Established in memory of Karen Kress-Burke, Tri-C Western Campus Respiratory Therapy clinical instructor. Recipients are selected after being interviewed by the scholarship committee. See Respiratory Care Program Manager for application.

Established in honor of the contributions, efforts and achievements of Tri-C faculty and staff.

Lubrizol Scholarship
Established by The Lubrizol Foundation. Scholarships are available in four areas: Undesignated Scholarships, Engineering Scholarships, Mechanical Engineering Technology Scholarships and Community Re-Entry Program Scholarships.

Steven Michael Luff Memorial Scholarship
Established in memory of Steven M. Luff, a Western Campus student born with spina bifida who was majoring in Journalism at the time of his death. At least one $500 award is made to a Western Campus physically challenged student.

• Western Campus student with physical disabilities (including hearing or visual impairments)
• Demonstrates measurable progress toward an associate’s degree or certificate
• Preference will be given to a graduate of the Berea school system
William F. Luthy Memorial Scholarship
Established in memory of William F. Luthy, Tri-C Accounting and Finance professor.
Criteria:
• Second year student currently enrolled in a minimum of six (6) credit hours
• Completed Financial Accounting and Managerial Accounting courses
• 2.7 GPA
• A personal narrative included with a completed Foundation Scholarship Application

Majestic Steel USA Scholarship Fund
Established to provide tuition assistance to associates of Majestic Steel USA and their spouses and children. Applications to be obtained through human resources office of Majestic Steel USA.

Detective Peter Merylo Scholarship
Established by the Cleveland Police Historical Society in memory of Peter Merylo.
Criteria:
• Cadet currently participating in the Basic Policy Academy at Cuyahoga Community College, or
• Majoring in Law Enforcement

Dale K. Nicklas Memorial Scholarship
Established in memory of Dale K. Nicklas, head softball coach at Tri-C’s Western Campus from 1994 until his untimely death in the spring of 2000.

Established in response to the growing enrollment of Tri-C’s nursing and health careers programs and the need for a highly educated health care workforce.

Established through the generous support of Omnova Solutions, Inc. This international company is headquartered in Fairlawn, Ohio and is a major innovator of decorative and functional surfaces, emulsion polymers, and specialty chemicals.

Established by numerous donations including gifts made by Duvin, Cahn, & Barnard, the Nordson Corporation, and Benesch, Friedlander, Coplan & Aronoff.

Parochial School Scholarship Fund
Established to support Tri-C students who attended a parochial high school.

Presidential Scholarship
Established in honor of the inauguration of Jerry Sue Thornton, Ph.D., as the fourth President of Tri-C. Eligibility includes scholarships for workforce training programs.
Criteria:

• Demonstrated volunteer leadership in the College and the community
Presidents/Trustees Scholarship
Established in honor of the leadership provided by past Tri-C trustees and presidents. This fund is supported by numerous donations including donations made in memory of Helen Cannon Bond, Finny Ham, and Rubie McCullough.

James J. Sheridan Memorial Scholarship
Established in memory of Dr. James J. Sheridan who served the College's English faculty at the Western Campus for 25 years. The award is renewable each semester as long as the recipient meets all of the criteria.

Jack Smith, Jr. Memorial Law Enforcement Scholarship
Established in memory of Jack Smith, Jr., the father of former Tri-C Board Trustee, Reverend Hilton O. Smith. This fund is also in memory of Steven J. Huber, a police officer slain in the line of duty; Robert L. Brown, a Tri-C public safety officer; and all those who have dedicated their lives to law enforcement and public safety.

Louis Stokes Scholarship
Established in honor of Congressman Louis Stokes and his lifelong contributions to Greater Cleveland and support of the TRIO Programs.

Established in honor of the creation of the Veterans Memorial monument on the Tri-C Western Campus which recognizes all Americans who serve their country. This fund is supported by numerous donations including donations made in memory of Dawn Pickett.

Established by the Cleveland Academy of Veterinary Medicine. This fund is supported by numerous donations including gifts made by the Cleveland Academy of Veterinary Medicine and the Medina Kennel Club, Inc.

Established by the Visual Communications Managers Association. Awards are available for students advancing to higher education.

Established in memory of Lowell Arnold Watkins, who taught in and led the Business Management Department of Tri-C’s Metropolitan Campus for more than 25 years.

Established from the proceeds from WestFest, the Western Campus’ 25th Anniversary celebration.

WEWS/Scripps Howard Scholarship
Established through generous support from the Scripps Howard Foundation to provide financial support for tuition and related educational expenses for students enrolled in the College’s Journalism and Mass Communications courses.

Established in 1998 by Al and Jan Widiger in recognition of the increasing need for skilled health professionals in many fields and their desire to make a lasting difference by helping students pursue their career goals in those fields.
Criteria:
• 2.7 GPA with no grade less than a “C”
• Enrolled in a Health Careers or Nursing program and have an interest in pursuing an advanced degree program, although this is not required for eligibility
• Accumulated 15 credit hours
• Minimum amount of $250
Florence Wolters-Chew Women in Science Scholarship
Established in memory of Florence Wolters-Chew, Tri-C chemistry instructor and founder of the College’s Women in Science and Technology Program.
Criteria:
• Female student who has completed at least ten hours of study in the Sciences
• 3.0 GPA
• Western Campus student
