Student Right-to-Know and Campus Security Act
The Student Right-to-Know and Campus Security Act was signed into law in November 1990. Title II of this act is known as the Crime Awareness and Campus Security Act. It requires institutions participating in student financial aid programs under Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965, to disclose information about campus safety policies and procedures, and to provide statistics concerning certain crimes that occurred on campus.

The annual report is provided in compliance with the Higher Education Amendments of 1998 and the Jeanne Cleary Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Act (20USC1092f).  In compliance with the act, by October 1 of each year, institutions must publish and distribute annual crime reports to current and prospective students and employees. The annual crime report includes: statistics concerning the occurrence of criminal offenses reported to campus officials. This report also contains statements about campus law enforcement policies, campus security education,  prevention programs, alcohol and drug policies, sexual assault prevention and education programs, procedures for reporting and handling sexual assaults.

The 2008 Annual Report Brochure is available to all students as well as faculty and staff by request at the Public Safety office on each campus. This brochure keeps the college community informed of safety and security issues. For more detailed information the 2008 Annual Report Booklet is also available upon request.

We are continuously developing innovative strategies to address both crime and the fear produced by crime. It is important that all segments of the college community be informed and work together to address crime and crime prevention.
