ACCREDITATION

The Cuyahoga Community College PA Program is fully accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant, Inc. (Click to visit the ARC-PA web site)

COLLABORATION

The Cuyahoga Community College PA Program has developed a collaborative Master’s degree program with Cleveland State University. Students will receive a postgraduate certificate from Cuyahoga Community College and a Master’s of Science in Health Sciencefrom Cleveland State University upon successful program completion.

National Commission on Certification for Physician Assistants (NCCPA) Purpose and Mission:
NCCPA is the only credentialing organization for physician assistants in the United States. Established as a not-for-profit organization in 1975, NCCPA is dedicated to assuring the public that certified physician assistants meet established standards of knowledge and clinical skills upon entry into practice and throughout their careers. Every U.S. state, the District of Columbia and the U.S. territories have decided to rely on NCCPA certification as one of the criteria for licensure or regulation of physician assistants. Approximately 60,000 physician assistants have been certified by NCCPA.

NCCPA Mission Statement:
NCCPA assures that certified physician assistants meet professional standards of knowledge and skills.

PANCE Overview:
To attain the PA-C designation, you must pass the Physician Assistant National Certifying Exam (PANCE). PANCE is a computerized, multiple-choice test that comprises 360 questions that assess basic medical and surgical knowledge.

Eligibility Requirements:

In order to take PANCE, you must graduatefrom a program accreditedby the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) as a Physician Assistant Program or a Surgeon Assistant Program. PA program graduates will be deemed to have graduated from an accredited program if their PA educational program was accredited at the time of their matriculation.
