Dental Hygiene/Assisting Simulation Labs
|Tri-C's dental program offers several different types of simulation labs for students. This program offers dental radiology labs and Metro campus' own Dental Hygiene Clinic where students provide preventative care to live patients. Dental hygiene and assisting students graduate from the program having experienced exceptional clinical experience.
- Dental Radiology Simulation Lab: uses Dxtr Manikins for demonstration of correct placement of film, radiographic technique, patient positioning, and infection control.
- Simulation Darwin Heads: simulated human heads with teeth, oral structure, and replicated oral tissue such as cheek and tongue. This aids in recognition of facial anatomy during instrumentation fundamentals.
- Typodonts: an educational tool for dental and hygienist students, enabling them to practice certain dental procedures on the plastic teeth of a model allowing students to drill cavity preparations and fill them with restorative material, such as amalgam or composite, or prepare the plastic teeth for crowns and bridges.
- Local Anesthesia and Pain Management Lab: uses typodonts to correctly identify anatomical landmarks.
