Program Description

The Massotherapy program at Cuyahoga Community College will prepare you for a rewarding career as a Massotherapist, whether running an independent practice or working closely with other health providers such as physical therapists and chiropractors. Tri-C offers the best pass rates for the State Medical Board of Ohio massage licensure exam. Learn and develop both clinical skills and business know-how. You will receive high-quality instruction and become a college graduate - for thousands less than other institutions!

Tri-C has a variety of offerings to fit your busy lifestyle: full-time or part-time options are available with classes during the day, evening, and the weekend.

Massotherapists work in a wide range of settings, such as:

  • Sports teams and sporting events

The program offers two options:

Option 1:  Associate of Applied Science in Massotherapy
Tri-C is the first community college in Northeast Ohio to offer an associate’s degree in Massotherapy. This 2 year (five semester) program includes summer classes prior to the first semester.

Option 2:  Post-Degree Professional Certificate
If you already have a degree from an accredited college/university, you are eligible to pursue the 1 year (three semester, after core courses are completed) post-degree certificate in Massotherapy.

Program Requirements

Program Admissions Requirements:
Application may be submitted to the Massotherapy Program Office at the Eastern Campus after meeting the following requirements:
  • High School Graduate/GED. Official transcripts are to be mailed to the Massotherapy Program with a completed Preliminary Education Application Form and a $35 check made out to the State Medical Board of Ohio.
  • Complete ENG-1010 with "C" or higher.
  • Complete the following (“C” or higher in each):
  • BIO-1050/105L
  • MT-1100
  • MT-1241
  • PSY-1010
  • GPA required: 2.50 admissions requirements, 2.50 overalll
Other Information:
  • 25 students accepted per year for day classes and 25 per year for evening classes (combined total for degree and certificate)
  • All science and math courses must have been completed within seven years of application submission, and may only be repeated once to improve a grade.
  • Admissions requirements may only be repeated once to improve a grade.
  • Interview with program manager encouraged.
  • Upon acceptance to the program and prior to matriculation, students must submit evidence of good health.
  • Preliminary Educational Approval Certificate from State Medical Board MUST be submitted prior to acceptance.
  • A criminal background check may be required prior to admission to the program.
