To become a teacher at the kindergarten or primary grade level, a bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education is required. Students planning to continue studies at 4-year institutions should speak with Counseling.

Accreditations & Partnerships 

Accreditation
Cuyahoga Community College's Associate of Applied Science degree in Early Childhood Education is accredited by the Ohio Department of Education to prepare students for state teacher licensure as Pre-Kindergarten Associate teachers.

Articulation agreement with Starting Point:
In addition, the college has an articulation agreement with Starting Point’s non-credit training for the Child Development Associate Credential. A candidate with this credential may present their certificate to College Counselors or the Program Manager, and waive 3 credits of the ECED 1010 course. The fourth credit ECED 101 B: Theories of Child Development must be completed with a grade of 2.0, or C, to earn the four credits.
