Student Financial Aid and Scholarships

Complete Your 2025–26 FAFSA!

The 2025–26 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form is now available to be completed.

2024-25 FAFSA Updates

The FAFSA Simplification Act was passed by Congress in 2020 and represents a significant overhaul of the processes and systems used to award federal student aid. This includes the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form, the need analysis that determines federal aid eligibility, changes in terminology, and many policies and procedures for schools that participate in federal student aid programs. Click here to learn more.

We're Here to Help!

Cuyahoga Community College maintains a full-service Student Financial Aid and Scholarships office on each campus. This office is dedicated to helping students navigate financial aid options for paying for their college expenses. Students can meet with a Student Financial Aid Advisor to obtain information about various financial aid options, which includes grants, scholarships, student loans, and public benefits. Learn more about various financial resources available at Cuyahoga Community College.

Apply for Financial Assistance

  • To submit your FAFSA, you must have a Federal Student Aid ID, or FSA ID. An FSA ID must be created for both you and your parent (if you are a dependent), prior to completing the FAFSA. You will use this FSA ID to electronically ‘sign’ your FAFSA.
  • Complete the FAFSA online at www.fafsa.gov.
  • To ensure Tri-C receives your FAFSA information, include our school code, 003040, in the ‘School Section’ of the FAFSA. Click here for more information
  • The Student Financial Aid & Scholarships Office recognizes that the FAFSA may not accurately reflect a family’s situation or their circumstance may change after submitting the FAFSA.  If you have had a change to your financial circumstance since submitting the FAFSA (loss of job, reduction in hours, divorce, etc.) you should contact the Student Financial Aid & Scholarships Office to discuss whether these changes could impact your financial aid eligibility. For more information click here.

*The scholarship application closes Feb. 3 and reopens Feb. 9, 2025.

Scholarships are a form of aid that assists students with paying for their education. Generally, scholarships are awarded to students with special qualifications, such as academic, athletic, or artistic talent. Scholarship consideration criteria include program of study, hours of registration, community service, extracurricular activities, residency, campus/club organization, financial need, and grade point average. You may be matched with one out of 200+ available scholarship opportunities by submitting the General Scholarship Application and uploading a personal statement. Interested applicants should complete a 2024-2025 FAFSA and have an admissions application on file.

Your financial aid award letter is based upon the information you submitted on your FAFSA and includes all the financial aid you are eligible for based upon this information. Your award letter assumes you will be enrolled as a full-time student (12+ credit hours/semester) and indicates the semesters for which aid has been awarded. The types of aid offered to you may include a combination of grants, scholarships, loans or work-study.

There are two types of financial aid:

  1. Gift Aid – includes grants and scholarships, which are sources of financial aid that do not have to be repaid or earned;
  2. Self-Help Aid – includes student loans and work-study, which are sources of financial aid that must be repaid or earned through employment.

The Work Study program provides employment opportunities on campus and at approved off-site locations. Work Study employment is federally funded and part of your financial aid package. You can review your award through your my Tri-C space to determine if you are eligible, or contact the Student Financial Aid and Scholarships office. Work Study is awarded on a first come first served basis, and you can earn up to $7,500. A Work Study award is NOT a guarantee of employment.

Current positions pay rate begins at $14/hour.

Checkout Work Study FAQs for more information.

The Student Financial Aid and Scholarships Office will be hosting virtual and in-person workshops throughout the academic year that are geared towards assisting students with completing the FAFSA application, learning about financial aid policies and applying for scholarships opportunities at Tri-C.  Come and join us to learn more!

Project Go! representatives are available to discuss various resources and connect you with Tri-C programs and community organizations that can provide direct assistance. We can also assist with the completion of benefits applications through benefits.ohio.gov.  To find out more about the Benefits Access/Project Go! program, contact the Student Financial Aid and Scholarships office at 216-987-6000, Option 2 or email projectgo@tri-c.edu.
