Upward Bound 

The Upward Bound Program (UB) is a year-round pre-college program for high school students. It is designed to assist students in graduating from high school, entering and graduating from college. Upward Bound works in cooperation with the schools, the College, and the community to provide educational opportunities and support to achieve these goals.

Population Served:  Eighty high school students - grades 9 through 12

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Enrolled in grades 9 or 10
  • Low-income, potential first-generation college student
  • Attending Glenville, East Tech, or John Marshall high schools
  • Citizen or permanent resident of the United States

Services Available:

  •  Weekly tutoring in core academic subjects
  •  Preparation for the Ohio Graduation and college admissions tests
  •  Assistance and guidance in following a college preparatory curriculum
  •  Information and assistance completing college applications and financial aid forms
  •  Exploration of educational and career opportunities
  •  Monthly Saturday seminars with guest speakers
  •  Educational, cultural, and college field trips
  •  Six-week daily, non-residential summer program
  •  Eight-week summer bridge program for graduating seniors
  •  Monthly Stipend
