SEMAA

Science, Engineering, Mathematics & Aerospace Academy (SEMAA) is designed to expose historically underrepresented youth, grades K-12, to multiple hands-on activities related to the fields of science, engineering, mathematics, and aerospace professions. The ultimate goal is to increase the numbers of students in the identified populations who enroll in technology-related academic majors in college.

SEMAA sessions are held Saturday mornings at the Metropolitan Campus in 3 8-week sessions each year.  In addition, 3 week-long camp sessions are held each summer. While students are attending the classes, parents and guardians are invited to participate in the SEMAA Family Café, which provides parent training sessions on subjects ranging from cultural diversity and preparing for college to parenting skills and community awareness.

SEMAA serves approximately 600 students during the academic year and a total of about 500 students during its summer camp sessions.
