Free bicycle helmets offered to children who attend Aug. 8 event
PARMA — The Western Campus of Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C®) will host its annual Bicycle Safety Day from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 8, to promote and encourage safe riding habits.
Bicycle helmets will be given to children ages 5 to 12 while supplies last. Studies show that helmets reduce the risk of head and brain injuries in the event of a crash.
Children who attend Bicycle Safety Day also will have the chance to pedal bikes while testing their steering, braking and general maneuverability skills on an obstacle course.
The family-friendly event also will include free hamburger or hot dog lunches, plus entertainment and activities. Rangers from the Cleveland Metroparks bicycle and mounted units will attend, and children and adults also can check out local safety vehicles.
The free event, sponsored by Tri-C’s Campus Police and Security Services, will be held rain or shine in Parking Lot D of the Western Campus, 11000 Pleasant Valley Road in Parma.
For more information or to register for the event, call campus police at 216-987-5326 or visit http://www.tri-c.edu/BikeSafetyDay.
