Tri-C Women’s Basketball Players Named All-Conference
Darian Carter, Ebony Young and Daesia Avery honored by OCCAC
Carter made First Team All-OCCAC after scoring 20.4 points per game, which ranked second in the conference. The second-year guard also averaged 6.3 rebounds per game and was second on the team in assists.
Carter, a graduate of Akron’s Firestone High School, is working toward an associate degree in sport and exercise studies at Tri-C. She was a member of the conference’s All-Academic Team during fall semester.
Young earned Second Team All-OCCAC honors after averaging 11 points and 7.7 rebounds per game. The second-year center ranked second in the conference in shooting percentage, making 57.9 percent of her shots.
Young, a graduate of Shaker Heights High School, is working toward an Associate of Science degree at the College.
Avery received All-Defensive Team recognition from the conference after averaging 7.9 rebounds per game, which topped the team. The second-year player also led the Challengers in blocked shots.
Avery, a graduate of Cleveland Heights High School, is working toward an Associate of Arts.
The Challengers ended the season with a record of 21-8 after a loss in the NJCAA Region 12 semifinals. The team won four more games than the previous season and finished third in the conference.
