College receives designation for eighth consecutive year
Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C®) has earned its eighth consecutive Military Friendly School designation in recognition of its commitment to serving veterans and active military students, as well as their families.
The College received the honor from Victory Media, publisher of G.I. Jobs and other publications serving the military community. This year’s recipients were announced today.
“Tri-C is and always has been dedicated to serving those who have served,” said Rick DeChant, executive director of the College’s Veterans Initiative. “We’re honored to be a ‘home base’ for the military community in Northeast Ohio.”
Victory Media created the Military Friendly School designation in 2009 to help service members and their families select the best college, university or trade school to receive the education and training needed to pursue a civilian career.
Institutions earning the designation were evaluated using both public data sources and responses from a Victory Media survey. More than 1,600 schools participated in the 2017 survey; 1,160 were awarded with the designation.
“Our ability to apply a clear, consistent standard to the majority of colleges gives veterans a comprehensive view of which schools are striving to provide the best opportunities and conditions,” said Daniel Nichols, a Navy Reserve veteran and chief product officer at Victory Media.
Tri-C works with thousands of military families a year through its veterans services centers, which offer a full array of support services to help veterans reach educational and career goals as they transition from soldiers to civilians.
Centers can be found at Eastern Campus in Highland Hills, Metropolitan Campus in Cleveland, Western Campus in Parma, Westshore Campus in Westlake, Brunswick University Center and the Louis Stokes VA Medical Center in Cleveland.
