Tri-C Police Chief Appointed to State Commission
Governor selects Clayton Harris to serve on Peace Officer Training Commission
CLEVELAND — Police Chief Clayton Harris of Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C®) has been appointed to the Ohio Peace Officer Training Commission for a term ending Sept. 20.
Ohio Gov. John Kasich announced the appointment last week. Harris is filling the remainder of a three-year term previously held by Chief Paul Denton of The Ohio State University Police Department.
The nine-member commission works to improve the professional capabilities of Ohio peace officers through oversight of law enforcement training within the state. The commission issues recommendations to the Ohio attorney general.
Harris now sits on two statewide law enforcement panels. Earlier this year, the governor reappointed Harris to Ohio’s AMBER Alert Advisory Committee for a third consecutive two-year term.
Harris has served as Tri-C’s police chief for 20 years and is an alumnus of the College.
