Tri-C Outdoor Track Athletes to Compete at Nationals

Five runners represent the College at championships
The Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C®) women’s track team qualified five student-athletes to the upcoming NJCAA National Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Kansas.
Representing Tri-C will be:
- Karen Barrientos in the 5,000-meter run
Barrientos qualified at the Baldwin Wallace Sparky Adams Meet after setting a new school record in the 5K with a time of 18:46.5, breaking the previous mark by more than 20 seconds.
- Cheyenne Emery in the 10,000-meter run
Emery qualified in the 10K with a time of 41:59.4 at the Westminster College Invitational.
- Allison Hainer in the 3,000-meter steeplechase
Hainer qualified at the Coastal Carolina Invitational while setting a new school record in the event with a time of 11:48.2, lopping almost nine seconds off the previous record.
- Atiyyah Herron in the 800-meter run
Herron qualified in the 800 with a time of 2:22.9 at the Hillsdale College Gina Relays and NJCAA Region XII Championships.
- Sara Leamer in the 400-meter intermediate hurdles
Leamer qualified in the event with a time of 1:09.8 at the Hillsdale College Gina Relays and NJCAA Region XII Championships.
The National Junior College Athletic Association Outdoor Track and Field Championships will take place May 14-16 at Gowans Stadium at Hutchinson Community College in Hutchinson, Kan.
Tri-C’s national qualifiers all list Ohio hometowns. Barrientos is from Ashtabula, Emery from Delaware, Hainer from Cuyahoga Falls, Herron from North Royalton and Leamer from Lordstown.
